About
Hello,
My approach while shooting has always been to have the subject drive me, it’s the unconscious visceral reaction to the subject I find the most powerful and intriguing. Many things can motivate the moment of a photograph, my work seeks to tell that story whether it’s a mood or emotion, ironic, documentary, or physical in nature.
My love of photography probably started in Jr High when I received my first SLR, a Pentax K1000 SE. I was immediately drawn to the both the scientific and documentary nature of the medium. I spent my high school years learning the basics of developing and working on the school paper or yearbook.
I later received my B.A. at MSU Moorhead, where I double majored in Art and Mass Communications giving me a strong background in both Fine Art and Documentary Photography. During that time I worked for the school paper, and was photo editor for the online magazine, Horizonlines.org. where I have had some of my work published, in addition to the many exhibits I took part in.
